Dear Friends,

On August 24, 2009, our husband and brother Mike Fernandez, died of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Mike was told that the only thing that could save his life was a lung transplant. Mike's journey merely brought him and his family to a tragic conclusion...tragic, because the cure for his illness should have been attainable, except for the shortage of organ donors!

The Mike Fernandez Memorial Golf 'n Bayou Bash celebrates the life of a man who lost his life while waiting for a lung transplant yet lived life to the fullest. This event benefits the Legacy Donor Foundation. Funds raised help Legacy continue to educate, raise awareness and most importantly, encourage people to register as organ, eye and tissue donors. It is Legacy’s mission to provide hope for a second chance at life for the more than 110,000 men, women and children waiting for a life-saving transplant.

We hope you will join us in this life-saving venture. We want you to be part of helping families find hopeful experiences and happy endings. We believe no one should die, on a list, waiting in desperate hope for a life-saving organ.
